My 7 year old daughter wants to take the Wilton classes with me. Do any of you know if there's an age requirement for them?
I would check with your instructor. Mine said okay to my daughter but she is 16. There was another teen in our class as well.
General rule of thumb is 8-14 with an adult. But, you can always check with the instructor at the location of the classes. I have allowed a couple of 7-year-olds (with their parent) and they outdid most of the adults in the class. But it really depends on the child also--are they capable of paying attention for 2 hours and not interupt the class.
I would call the instructor and get his/her opinion. It is up to the instructor what age limit they put on the classes.
Thanks everyone. I think I will take the classes myself and then teach her what I've learned from the class. I figured she might be too young, but I didn't have the heart to tell her no. She was so excited when I told her I was going to take the classes. She wanted to do them with me. Ever since I decorated my youngest DD's cake she has wanted to decorate. I guess I got her started out young. ![]()
when I was teaching, the policy was anyone 12 and older.
Ask your instructor about the Kakes for Kids class, to see if she will offer it sometime in the future. It is a one day class for kids that covers the basics like the stars, dots and zigzags.
I took course 1 & 2 and we had a 9 year old little girl taking the class with her aunt. I must say she did pretty well. If I had know ahead of time I may have signed up my 10 year old daughter since she is interested in it as well. Oh well, I'll just teach her on my own.
My 12 yr old took Course I, but I had to sit with her. She had a blast and she listened better than some of the adults. ![]()
