A lady at work wants me to make cupcakes for a baby shower that she is throwing. She likes the ones that look like a baby sleeping under a blanket. (Fondant pillow, fondant baby head, fondant blanket covering a lumpy body- there are plenty of pics of these in the gallery). I'm making three dozen. I've finally stopped doing things for free, but am not very comfortable yet in setting prices. I'd like to get at least $40, but am leaning more towards $50. Is that unreasonable for a friend? I'll be doing a baby shower cake for the same lady the following week to serve 60. She wants me to do a two tiered cake with the fondant babies on it (you've probably seen this one in the wilton fondant book- but I'm icing it in buttercream) and a plain 1/4 sheet cake just to make sure there's enough. I'm thinking I'll charge her $65-$75? What would you charge? Any advice? icon_rolleyes.gif

I've done those baby cupcakes for several baby showers, I charge $3 to $5 each - they take a LOT of time. For each cupcake you have to ice it, make and mold the head, pillow, cut the blanket from the template (decorate the blanket) adhere it to the cupcake and then draw on the face. Just food for thought - hope it helps.
