I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas I could use for the wheels on a train. I will be using the 3D locomotive train from Williams Sonoma, it has 9 cavaties in it.. so it will be like a little locomotive. Others here on CC have done this pan as well. The instructions on the insert are very basic WS suggested, and are made mostly of candy. I was thinking of using large fruit loops and dipping them in black royal.... do you all think this would work? This cake pan is very intricate and I know the detail is going to be crazy, so I am trying to think of an easy route for the wheels. I have used chocolate donuts for wheels on trucks, but this is much smaller, each cavity is equivilant to a cupcake, just shaped like a train locomotive.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I did a carved train and used oreo cookies for wheels. Maybe you could use the mini oreos.

SUPER GREAT IDEA... how smart is that? Glad I asked, just ticked I didn't pick some up at Sam's earlier this week when my little bit wanted them... thanks so much! I will probably use this idea as I don't know if I have time for the royal to dry sufficiently on the cereal before tomorrow night!

I've saw that at Williams Sonoma too, it looks so cute. How about spraying macaroni wheels with coloring, they probably are the right size.

The cake is finished.. wowowowow what a pain to decorate because it is so intricately detailed. I don't think my take on it did justice.. anyway, I used Wilton melts for the tires... didn't feel like braving the grocery for a last minute item on Superbowl day. Thanks to all who helped!

you did a great job! It's a VERY difficult pan to use! My mom almost got it for me, but she was worried that it was too detailed.
