Ok, so i'm a die hard cake decorater. But I don't like cake that much after all these years, and hubby is diabetic.... so I hate baking at home just for practice. Not to mention the two jobs and the 20 animals we have... like time is on my side icon_confused.gif I do have sstyrofoam dummies, but why do all that work with no cake to give out? I have two jobs and a half a dozen businesses I will give cake to, but again, I just don't want to bake. Yet. I have good solid recipes, but no time. Sooooooooo

I noticed that our grocery store had 6x6 square pepperidge farm cakes on sale for $2 I need the most work on fondant... so I was wondering if I could just cover their cake with my art? Has anyone tried it? The PF icing is very soft and creamy, and with not so much fondant experience, I was just wondering if anyone else had tried it... And yes, it's cheating, but not if I tell, right? icon_biggrin.gif

I think if you scraped SOME of the icing off of the cake, it would work fine. And no--it's not cheating!

Let us know how it worked--I'm curious too. Post pics!

I don't see why not!!! They even have pound cakes in the fridge section. You know.......that is a good idea when I don't have the time to bake my cakes but I really want to decorate! SO sure!

I actually like their cakes. Give it a try, it's cheap enough to experiment.

Great way to practice, saves time on baking and making icing, but I couldn't say I baked it if I didn't.

Yahoo!! Now it's one more thing on my list of things to do....but it inspires me to get my work area cleaned up and stuff in good order so that I can try it out... it may be a while.... =(

My mom gave me the exotic flowers gumpaste book for Xmas and that got me back into wanting to decorate unusual stuff again... remember, I do 40-60 a day at work, so it's hard to stay motivated at home... But this group has inpired me to no end, so I'll soon be putting up pic and trying some new stuff. Hopefully, my coworker will convince her husband to get us a shop, and I'll be her slave forever.
