I bought the gumpaste kit yesterday and started right at it. I did very simple flowers like the daisey and tulip. I was wondering if when I am done putting it together and putting the center on the flowers if I can clear coat them to give them a shiney look in the end. Also do you have any tips for me on using pixie dust on gumpaste? Thanks Megan

To get a shine on gumpaste, you can either lightly steam the flower for 5 to 10 seconds or you can paint on/spray on an edible lacquer or confectioner's glaze.

As to the pixie dust, I'd think that it can either be dry dusted on--perhaps even while each petal is still a bit damp--or mixed with a clear alcohol or lemon extract and painted on.
