Need Advice On Cake For Baby Shower

Below is a picture of a cake off of the michaels web site. It calls for a two layer 6x2 baking pan and its supposed to feed 32. I am going to make this cake for my cousins baby shower but I was thinking of making it out of a 8x2 baking pan to make sure that there is enough. What do ya'll think, will it look right with the 8x2 or not? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would say you are going to have to use the 3" deep pans if you go for the 8 inch cake, otherwise they are not going to look like blocks.

If you are worried about servings, maybe just make an extra block or two and put a bottle or a teddy bear on it. If you do the 8", you are going to have some BIG blocks.

Thank you so very much. I haven't been doing cakes for very long, so each one is a new experience. I love doing them and learning new stuff. I appreciate any help I can get. I will do like you said Keliames and just make an extra block or two. When I get a chance I am going to post pictures of cakes I have done and would appreciate any input on them. Thank you all..

hey i recently made blocks for a shower cake and i used a 6 in square pan 2 in deep. it took 2 layers and half of another(i sliced it in half throughthe middle and added it to the middle. i did not stack them so it took 2 1/2 sheet boards to hold them all. but there was definetly(SP) enough for everyone.here is a pic to show what i mean.. hope it helps

Thank you all for your help. I did the Block cake this past Saturday. I think it turned out really well. I made some cupcakes with the same colors as the blocks to go with it, to make sure that there was enough.
I really appreciate everyones help!!!
