Not sure I'm getting the hang of this. It seems simple (those always seem to be the ones I have the most trouble with)
...but this is what I have so far. How do I fix the sides?? I tried cutting off the edge that sticks out...but then the bootie didn't stick together. Will this look better when I finish w/the back part??
Any suggestions??
Are you using cutters? if so make the sole as thick as th cutter will allow, this will make a difference with the sides. Also i find using cotton you can fill the sides out more easily. The other thing i do is i use a pasta machine to make these so that each bootie is the same thickness.
No, not using cutters....just the pattern from her site. How big are they supppose to be?? These are kinda big...I used the full-size pattern..should I have shrunk them down??
I'll try and make the soles thicker. I had rolled it as thick as a quarter, like the tutorial suggested. Unfortunately, no pasta machine either!! But I'll try the cotton balls instead of a napkin. ![]()
This was only my first try at making them. So I'll give it a try again tonight.
Thanks,
Christine
roll the soles twice as thick as you are rolling the sides. With out a pasta machine, i would use two paint sticks on either side of the paste to keep the shoes the same. Make sure to dip the cotton balls in cornstarch or they will stick to the gumpaste.
You may allready have this, but here maybe this can help you.
to keep shoes together and click next pic to see how to smooth.
