Any ideas on how I can make a horseshoe for a decoration for a cake top? I don't really have access other than internet to buy a mold and I'm not sure it would get here in time. I need it for a cake next week. I am thinking of making my own mold somehow from a real horseshoe or just trying to model one directly out of fondant/gumpaste.

You can make one of pastillage Or make a color flow of one. The former would be stronger. icon_smile.gif

Go to the topic, "A great idea for cake pans" that just came through. You could make your own horseshoe cake like a cookiecutter.

Hi Hsdwidow: I posted the info on making your own size pans and just after posting that idea I also thought about using it to shape your own pans. Your right - the possibilities are endless. Just bake a rectangular cake, shape your cake pan cutter and cut your cake (1 or 2 pieces for 1 or 2 layer cakes). It's pretty simple and wow, why buy anymore pans.

P.S. Use the cake scraps for Cake Truffles/Cake Balls - no waste!
