I'm working on a wedding cake at the minute and I want to make the rose decoration that is the topper on a separate thin card. One side of the card is covered with the usual silver foil covering but the underneath is just raw cardboard if you know what I mean...

I'm just thinking though, should I put some contact plastic on the raw cardboard side of the card in case when I stick it to the top tier of the wedding cake with royal icing bits of cardboard come off when they go to remove it?

I would cover it just to protect the cake from any cardboard contamination, or anything the cardboard may pick up.
