Hi everyone! I have a quick question about adding cake extender to one box of cake mix. I have never done this before but I would like to try it. I'm also looking for a recipe with the fewest ingredients because I do not have the time right now to go out and buy anything, so all I have is one box of cake mix with a big pan. So if anyone knows of a quick and easy cake mix extender recipe, then please let me know!!! Thanks!

there is that recipe on this site, I can try and post a link to it...but it calls for sour cream (which isnt something I have on hand normally).

Question...Is this a good idea to use when making 8" and 10" stacked cakes? Does it turn out more like a pound cake. Need to make cakes this weekend and they want really moist cakes..thanks

I pretty much use the cake mix extender and Durable Cake recipes from here and I've never had a problem with any cakes up to 10" or stacked ones. I usually dowel mine if stacking just in case becuase they are a bit heavier. I love the durable recipe as it's really moist and a little dense which I like.

Thanks...I will be baking this weekend! I have learned so much from this site! I told my husband it's like taking a online class... And how helpful everyone seems to be, and sharing their information and ideas.... Thank-you!

does the extender receipe make the cake more dense (like the durable cake receipe)? i liked how durable the durable receipe was, but would like to get more out of my cake mix. so if the extender receipe makes the cake sturdier and dense i'd try it. any thoughts?

The adding the 1 cup flour, sugar etc. is per cake mix, and you still add everything that the cake box calls for, right? icon_redface.gif

If you use the extender with a flavored box mix (like german chocolate) - does it change the flavor? lessen it?
