Hello Everyone,
Well I thought I was going to branch out a little and try something new. I have been seeing allot on here regarding the cake extender so thought I would try it. Well all seemed to be going well until I checked the cake (like I always do),it looked great....seemed done so I pulled it out and let it cool. I left the kitchen for just a minute and when I returned the cake had completely cranked down the center and totally flattened and shrunk away from the sides (considerably)! icon_cry.gif What did I do? I followed the extender recipe to the T, cooked it the extra minutes suggested. I am SO Upset!! icon_sad.gif
Anybody have any suggestions?
Thank you!

i can think of two things....

1...too much liquid could be to blame
2... not baked enough

try again and see how it works.

kjgjam22 and JanH -Thanks for your replies. I added the milk/oil amount that the box called for.
The extender recipe I used is from here and it doesn't call for any other liquids. I did "dissect" the cake after cooling and it was done. I don't know, guess just got to try again until I get it right. icon_confused.gif

JanH- Thank you for the links......Great help!!

Happy Friday to you All!

You might have put too much in your pan, and don't open oven until ready to take out! I've had that happen to me with a 16" and I think it was because I put too much batter in pan.

Spoiled1, I suggest you try the white almond sour cream cake:

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2322-White-Almond-Sour-Cream-Cake.html

(This extended recipe calls for 2 box mixes, but can easily be cut in half.)

It's very highly rated and always seems to turn out!!!

And of course you can change the flavor by using different extracts icon_biggrin.gif
