Let me start by saying I am not liscensed and can not advertise. I am thinking of having business cards printed up with my name and phone number on there and a picture of a cake. When I was designing them, I wasn't sure if I should put my address on there or not. I kinda don't like the thought of handing out 100 of cards to random people telling them where I live. What do you think?

I do not have my physical address on my business cards. We live in a restricted area so I can't have customers come to my house. I deliver my cakes and the customers love it. If we can't meet up at the same time, I have a store here that I can leave the cake at with an envelope for payment and they can pick it up at their convenience.

for safety's sake don't. Name, photo and number is good enough.

good question..i've been wondering about the idea of business cards w/out a licensed kitchen. It's tough here, cannot do it out of a private home, but cards seem like a must..have any of you used cards w/ouy being legit? Besides that, what do you say if the health department comes knocking?

I just put my name and "cake decorator" on cards, i just give them to friends, family and whoever i end up doing a cake for. I put a picture of a cake on mine too! I didn't put an address, i just put the city

I just hand mine out to friends and keep it as informal as possible. I also have my email address on mine (in addition to my name and phone number).

I have had access to a comm. kitchen in the past but I am looking to rent one for 3 nights a week. So I am not totally legit but will be very soon.

Gina, I'm not licensed either. I don't have enough business built up yet that I want to deal with the whole claiming a business on my taxes & going thru the whole process of getting licensed yet.

I had cards made up & hand them out frequently. I just included my business name, my name, my cell phone number & my fax number. I figured the less info I included that had to do with my residence the better, so I chose to even leave off my home phone number also.

I've edited out my phone number and email address for obvious reasons, but here is the card that I usually hand out. Of course, by time I hand the card to someone, they already know that I decorate cakes because I've told them as much.
