Just called a customer to confirm an order for two birthday cakes, a Spiderman and a Batman. Just to be on the safe side I asked the customer again to confirm the size, 9 x 13, where she wanted me to deliver and what time...since I am close to town and could easily deliver. She paid me for delivering the last time....She said...it does not matter what size...be creative. I want a Spiderman and a Batman I trust you. Just let me know how much and give me a call when they are ready so I can tell you where to deliver. What size should I make?? What would you do??

Well, if size doesn't matter the 9" x 13" is a comfortable size to work with...

Has she told you how many people the cakes will need to serve?? I enough for everyone and maybe add a few extra pieces just in case someone unexpected shows up

I would go with 9x13's. There are lots of cute Spiderman and Batman cakes in the gallery. Have you checked them out?

I guess it would be better to know how many people are going to be there. But if she won't tell you, just go with the 2 9x13's.

I would call her back.....perhaps she meant she doesn't care what size batman and spiderman are.

I would definately clarify this. What if she runs out of cake...or what if she thinks you're nuts for making such large cakes and she doesn't want to pay you?

Better safe than sorry....

I just wanted to add.....we all know what we mean when we say 9 x 13. Perhaps she (the customer) doesn't realize this is a pan size?

I would definitely find out how many it's going to serve. I had someone ask me to do a cake "anything I wanted" but said "I am for sure going to need a full sheet."

A FULL SHEET?! Well after speaking with her, she said it needed to feed "30". I explained all the different sizes to her and gave her my opinion and she then decided on the 12X 18, said she wanted extra cake. That was much better than a full! She was calling what you get at the grocery store a full sheet. Sometimes people don't realize there are different sizes available.

I would ask how many she needs to feed then charge her accordingly, I agree with a lot of the posts, most people don't know what they are talking about when they request..."sheet" cakes!...lol
