icon_smile.gif I have an interview tomorrow for a job , Assistant to the Head Pastry Chef who does all the Wedding Cake decoration..He is the "main" guy..
I'm very nervous, I've never done decorating as a JOB, it has always been a hobby only.. I'm worried it might take away the fun when I do it based on my rules, own pace and my ideas. This is at a very upscale European Bakery..very, very expensive.. Maybe it's time that I get rid of my Admin. Assist. job that I've had for 15 yrs.
what do you think ?

Go for it. Your a very talented person. You do beautiful cakes and you should be extremely proud of your self. Take your portfolio. Good Luck with the interview. Can you do it.....Yes you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go for it! I'm jealous. I'm still stuck in my administrative assistant job just dreaming of the day when I can go for a job like that. It's hard work but I say cake work still beats paper work. thumbs_up.gif Good luck and tell us how it goes!

Oh my gosh! Your cakes are beautiful and I agree, GO FOR IT! The good news is a job like that sounds like you will be learning new things and always have something different. It's probably going to be a while before you find it to be mundane. But then again, those of us that have started out doing this for fun might never get to that point! What a great opportunity! Your cakes are awesome, your portfolio speaks for itself, don't be nervous, be confident! If you feel like this is what you want to do then do it, you can always get a job as a admins. assistant. Eve, working at an upscale bakery doesn't come easy. You go and get your job! Good luck! Don't forget to tell us what happened!!!!

I say go for it! Even if you feel like it's too structured, think of all the things you could learn. Being an admin asst. is something you could always get a job doing again (well, probably). Opportunities like this come along rarely!

Think of it this way. It is only and interview. You don't have to make a decision now and even if they offer you the job you don't have to take it. It is always good to have options.
Besides whats the worst that can happen . . . you might actually love doing this.

It sounds like a great opportunity for you! I am sure you will be nervous as all of us would be too. Just picture him in his underwear if you get too nervous.( if he is good looking ) and if not hope he does something stupid like drop a cake. Anyway good luck!
