Any ideas where to find "reverse writing?" Like happy birthday, good luck, etc. I want to trace them with piping gel and then flip onto cake top. I just completed my first Wilton class. I'm not very skilled with free hand writing yet.

My writing isn't that great either. My hubby is always getting on me about it. I was thinking I might try a FBCT for my writing. I don't know if it would be too thin to move without breaking thouh. Hopefully the other CCers will have good suggestions for us!

You might have a program on your computer that will let you flip or reverse your image (like Microsoft Publisher). You can choose the size and style font you need and print it. If you don't you can print it out, put waxed paper (or whatever you're going to use) on top of the printed page and trace it. Then you'll be able to see the lettering through the back and have your reversed image. I hope that all makes sense.

If you look at the pink fondant cake in my gallery, the my little pony for my daughter's second birthday, you can see where I made some royal icing letters and stuck them on the cake. You can just use Microsoft Word to print in mirror image (when you hit 'print' there is a little box you can check in the options for mirror image) , cover the paper in wax paper and pipe the letters. You can download all kinds of cool fonts off the internet for free. I have only done this once 'cause I usually don't want to bother making royal icing for just one little thing. HTH!

Yes, the Wilton "Make any Message?" press kit has been a lifesaver for me! I couldn't fit letters and writing on a cake to save my life, and this handy thing makes writing on a cake so much easier. It's a good investment. IT's only a few dollars too.

Try chocolate transfers for your writing, they really do work great.

I found for me that trying to trace words in reverse was worse than my normal writing, so I got the wilton press thing, but they are small.

Someone else mentioned I could take a piece of paper and laminate it or cover with contact paper and punch toothpick holes to trace the letters. Then I could put that on top of the cake, press toothpics thru to make a pattern for me to trace. Either the toothpics or dusting it with cocoa powerder to get the outline of the words there.

Ihaven't tried it yet, but it sounds like a neat idea!
