I used to buy break and bake cookies because I was so scared of cookies. Everytime I tried to make homemade cookies they were flat or like cake...it never failed, but I sure did! Thanks to the inspiration from all of the great cookie bakers and decorators I decided to give it one last try. I looked up a recipe for sugar cookies and RI and tried it. The cookies came out wonderful! Except maybe the decorations but hey...for a first time I guess it could be a lot worse. Now for the predicament. My neice wants cookies, along with the cake I am baking, for her 14th birthday. These cookies are cute but I am not sure if they are right for a 14 year-old (16 would be good) She tries to be all grown up so I just don't know what to do for her. Any suggestions?

I tried to add the photo of them but I don't know how. They are in my photos.

Your cookies are wonderful! Nice work!

Are you asking what shape of cookie to do for a 14 year-old...going on 30? icon_lol.gif

How about some fashion shapes like purses, shoes, lipsticks, etc. Remember...they are only cookies! She can pretend she's an adult for a day. thumbs_up.gif

A heart is timeless classic. Never too old or too young for that. Yet you can certainly strike it wrong if you do something considered too babyish. I'd go with the hearts, you've already done them, so would feel good about doing them at the same time as a cake. Trying a new design when you have a cake to do as well could end in disaster.

Those cookies are very pretty. I would never have guessed it was your first time decorating.

I think the dress tops would be fine for a 14 year old girl who considers herself mature. It's not as if your cookies have lots of cleavage or anything. icon_lol.gif

I'm probably not the best judge, though, because I have a 14 year old son, who wouldn't even notice the shape before scarfing down the cookie. (Mostly kidding--he decorates, too.)

I saw the cookies in the gallery - these are so pretty! I think she'll love 'em. I JUST got my purse, dress, shoe cutters, can't wait to bake & decorate some

I don't know yet, she is supposed to come by today and we will talk about what she wants and her ideas. Her mom just started letting her wear light make-up so I thought about doing the lipsticks, little compacts...things like that but I am not sure.
