Baking In Flower Pots

Is there anything special I need to do to prep flower pots if I wanted to bake in them?

I saw a cute idea of making individual cakes in the 4" clay pots but I wanted to make sure it didn't end up on the disater board when i attempted it.

Someone asked this on the wilton site and another person said that you can just make sure that the pot isn't from Mexico because it contains Lead.
