Rose cutters come in various shapes & sizes... you can buy them online from various outlets.

As for videos on how to do them, they are probably out there... I personally don't have one... there are some good books out there that could show you how to do them... or maybe someone on CC site has made a tutorial.

I know that the rose cutter and directions come in the Wilton Course 3 class Kit, that is where I got mine. Certainly you can buy them seperatly but I do not know where to buy the directions. I am sure they are out there somewhere on the internet.

The rose cutter I love makes very fast flowers and they look lovely, Nicholas Lodge carries them as well as videos and DVDs. His rose is shown on the one called DVD Catalog and the cutter is called the All in One Rose or Easy Rose, it comes in two sizes.

The catalog DVD shows all of the gumpaste tools needed and how to use them. It also shows him making the rose.

Shirley could you tell me more about that rose cutter? It doesnt give much of a description. What is it shaped like, individual petals or like the wilton flower shape? It says it goes with rose cone? what is that? is that something to purchase separately or are they talking about the base of the rose? thanks!

I have that cutter. It does look like a 5 petal flower, but the difference is the petal are separated almost to the base of the petal. It's still one piece, it's also called a blossom cutter. This is different than the Wilton cutter, which is flower shaped but the petals are not separated.

The cone they are talking about is the base upon which you build your rose, like the cone we make for icing roses.

Sorry Shirley, I just saw that question was directed to you icon_redface.gif

no I appreciate your response! Thank you, it was helpful. Are there different sizes? Do you need more than one size per flower?

No problem, that pretty well describes it. I make my own cone centers of gumpaste on a hooked wire. The foam cones are a time saver and also make the flowers lighter in weight. I think it makes a very pretty flower, but if I am making a larger or fuller rose I use a single petal cutter for the last row of 5 petals. There are two sizes of the Easy Rose cutter, I like the smaller one. The larger one makes a very big flower and I just prefer the smaller and adding the extra single petals if I need a full blown rose.
