I'm just starting in cake decorating and I'm wondering what resources you use and where to get information. This site is a great place of info! Where else do you go for info and new ideas? Are there any magazines out there you read?

Welcome duckduck! I am new too so don't have too much info to give but will be happy to pass along my two cents.

First I took all three of the Wilton courses offered at my local Michaels.

Cake Central is the best place to look for and get information. I have ordered but have not yet received the American Cake Decorating magazine along with Mailbox News. I have seen copies of ACD and it seems to be a very nice magazine.

Maybe this will bump up your request and you will get more info than I can offer.

PS Don't forget to just do searches on the internet, it is amazing what you can find.

To be honest I have bought a few books from Wilton. LOL never even attempted anything from those books until this year. I have like 4 issues. I have self taught myself and have learned ALOT from CC.

Books by Dede Wilson, Toba Garrett and Sylvia Weinstock are great. Martha Stewart has some good ideas in her Wedding magazine.

I do research online and I get base ideas from wilton yearbooks. The best way to learn for me is just experimenting though! Good luck and remember to have fun! lol

Here are the websites for 2 periodical decorating magazines, American Cake Decorating & Mailbox News. Both sell for around $10 I think, so I've never bought one, but I usually flip through them when I'm at the cake store.

I mostly get my ideas off the internet too.
