Hello everyone. I want to attempt to make a baby grand piano cake that is actually standing on legs instead of laying flat on a cake board. If I glue 4 or 5 cakeboards together and cut the shape of the piano, then glue on legs made out of those wide plastic dowels by Wilton, would that be sturdy enough to hold the cake? It will be carved from a 4" high 11x15 sheet cake, filled and iced with buttercream, then covered with fondant. I'm just not sure if regular cake boards will withhold the weight of the cake without collapsing or should I used a wooden base with wooden legs.
i would slide bamboo skewers into the corrugated grooves in two of the boards if i want extra strength -- then place them crosswise in the stack of boards and you'll be golden -- y'know shish kabob skewers --
best to you
