I need to bake a car cake for my grandson and wondering what is the best cake recipe to use for cake modeling?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Any cake that is dense will carve well. You can make any cake recipe dense by adding sour cream or yogurt. CC has several recipes for cakes that can be carved.   https://www.cakecentral.com/recipe/query/cake-for-carving   Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your response.  I continued to look through other posts and see that the addition of sour cream/yoghurt is common for recipes requiring sculpting.  Appreciate your help.

Kakeladi's *Original* WASC recipe is perfect for carving, with a beautiful crumb and great taste.  It does use sour cream.
