I just made a SatinIce fondant-covered cake for a customer. It didn't go over to well because it was "too sweet". I told her that I would have to check about flavoring it. She may be one of those people that just doesn't like fondant, but I told her that I would check.

Can fondant be flavored with extracts? If so, how much would I add? Or what else could you recommend?

Thanks!!!!!

absolutely it can be flavored with extracts........I've only ever added them to MMF but I don't see why it wouldn't work with ANY fondant!!! I usually add about a tsp. to a full recipe of MMF which is.....mmmmmm.....I'd say about 2 lbs? Just add a little and taste it and figure out how much you want to add

I agree - we flavored Wilton and Satin Ice - worked fine. 1-2 tsp - depends on which type of flavoring. Lemon was strong but cherry took more.

Good luck!

thank ya'll very much!!! thumbs_up.gif
I thought the SatinIce was a bit sweet and I told the lady that. She wasn't upset; I think kinda disappointed. I'm going to ask her if she'd like to try another one with the flavoring. She loved the look!
Thank you!!!!!!!

You can also flavor it with the candy oils, which take less than extracts. icon_smile.gif

When using extracts to add flavor you may need to add a little powder sugar if it becomes sticky.

thank you for the information!! In my Wilton course 3, I thought the instructor used oils but wasn't sure. It was a couple of drops.

(I'm not getting notification of replys? I've checked my info box and it's marked. That's why I'm slow to responding.)
