icon_cry.gif I am in desperate need of help! It is 4:00, Thursday afternoon, the cake is due Saturday morning. I made my fondant loops several days ago, they have been drying. Today I started to assemble the bow and all of the bottom loops cracked and broke. I took the bow apart and am trying to salvage some loops. I think part of the problem is that it was humid today and we didn't have the air on. We put the air on. Do I have enough time to make new loops???? Any suggestions on how to quick dry loops??? When I tried to put cotton balls or tissue in the loops, they cracked. Help!!!!!!!!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Did you made the loops from fondant or gum past? I think if you make the loops again from gum paste they should dry until Saturday.

I agree with Tuggy. I'd make the loops again and use gumpaste. If you make the loops farily thin and don't add too much shortening to the gumpaste when you roll it out, it should dry in time with no problem. Don't use too much cornstarch or powdered sugar either when you roll it out, that also can cause cracking. Try rolling it out on a sheet of plastic. I have a couple of smooth plastic placemats that work well for smaller things like bow loops, so I don't have to add a lot of stuff to keep gumpaste or fodnant from sticking.

i was afraid my mmf wouldn't dry hard enough so i kneaded gum tex into and it dried over night. i moved the bow several times and it held up. i guess it also depends on how thick you make the strips for your loops. more fragile the thinner they are i suppose.

Do you have a food dehydrator? I have let loops air dry on the dowel rod for a while and then put them in my dehydrator on their sides. They dry pretty quickly.
