I am going to be making a sand castle wedding cake. I have read to use pringles cans for the towers. I think I will try that. But how would be a way to make the tops of them. The block things at the tops that are spaced out. Sorry don't know the word for it so trying to explain LOL. Is there a mold or anything? Or something else I can use.

Could you somehow rig an ice cream cone, the waffle type, as the turret? You might be able to make your own waffle cone using a pizzele maker, and just slice the cone before you wrap it to insure a firm base to attach to your pringle can. Since this part won't be eaten anyway, maybe you could just rig it up for the photo ops, then take it away when the cutting begins.

See my pictures for the house cake I made recently - I baked cake in a large ravioli can for the round part, then added a mini-cone (a Wilton one, I believe) cake to the top. It's not as sharp as I would have wanted it, but hindsight is 20-20. If I ever were to try this again, I would still use the mini-cone cake for the top, but I would slice it down so that the top was a point, and not rounded.

Good luck, and be sure to post your pictures!

to_be_mrspage,

I think you mean the rampart of crenellation at the top of the castle. How about cutting it out of a sheet of gumpaste? That is what I will do for a wedding cake I'm going to do in December. I'm adapting the instructions in Lindy Smith's "Celebrate with a Cake!" The picture is here:

I've also heard of using cubes of sugar evenly spaced. There is a picture here:

Good Luck!

I used sugar cubes on my daughter's castle cake. They worked well

I was almost thinking of something like sugar cubes. Didn't know how they would work out.
