So I've seen topics about cheesecake cakes - how do you do that? And does anyone have a good recipe? I've never made a cheesecake before!! My dad hates cake but LOVES cheesecake so I thought I could do that for his birthday - any ideas? hints? tips? anything? icon_smile.gif

I couldn't find a recipe for a cake mix. You might just want to make a vanilla cake mix and add cheesecake flavoring. Or make a cake with the cheesecake mousse then add flavoring to that. It has a very light taste and could use a tad bit more. Its great though!

The thing I find with cheescake is when you think it is not done it is. It will be wobbly in the middle. and cooks more while out of the oven. I only made one once and I was proud to say it came out well. Just follow a recipe exact. Good luck.

Good tip Amycake thanks! I'm not sure I'm quite ready for a cheesecake maybe! Gotta find a good recipe..... I'll have to look throughout here. Anyone else have any particular tips like amycakes? Like keep your ingredients cold/ let them come to room temperature? etc?

hahahahaha!!!!!!!!! I feel so stupid! From your first sentence you said Cheesecake Cake so I thought you meant a Cake Mix that tastes like cheesecake. DURRRRR!!!!!! LOL!!! Sorry icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_razz.gificon_biggrin.gif
Well, if you have a mixer and can mix creamcheese, vanilla, sugar and eggs (all recipes are certainly different) You can make a cheesecake! Im going to attempt the chocolate chunk cheesecake this sunday and for my brothers grooms cake. Im just confused as some say bake in a water bath and others don't. I guess it depends on the recipe. Huh...

Here's a good recipe:

1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted margarine
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup eggs (2 large or 3 medium)
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
cherry pie filling (or topping of choice)

Combine graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and melted margarine.
Press into bottom of 9" springform pan.
Combine softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, eggs and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Blend until smooth and pour over crust.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
Cool 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine sour cream, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Blend well.
Spread over cream cheese layer and bake for 10 minutes at 475 degrees.
Cool at least 5 hours or overnight in refrigerator.
Top with cherries or desired topping.

Hope this helps
