I really appreciate all the responses I've gotten, you guys are really awesome. I'm so grateful for an online community like because lately the virus has put a downer on our bakery in general. There is only one cake decorator and shes been gone to watch her children. So any lessons or cake orders have been delayed. I'm only trusted with cupcakes for the cooler casing. But I'm definitely inspired to keep trying when I have the chance and just be self-taught because there's nothing wrong with that. This was the example I was referring to.
This is a pretty good start for a square cake, TasiaG. It just need another gentle pass or two with a bench scraper and would benefit from a 10 minute chill, then a final layer of buttercream. Here is a great video by Liz Marek showing how to frost a half sheet cake.
