Last night I was using bc and piped in with a #2 tip a shamrock with the intention of dragging a small brush thought the outline toward the center of the shamrock. Does it only work with pretty thin frosting? It just didn't look very good when I was done. (Which isn't surprising since it was my first time). thumbsdown.gif

The icing does need to be relatively thin. I use a tip #3 because when I used a #2,I found the outline would change shape becuase there wasn't enough icing to brush. Does that make sense?

Thank you. I'll try a #3 and a little thinner frosting next time. I appreciate it.

The brush does need to be slightly damp as well

Yes, you will need to dip your brush in water frequently. I also recommend a tip #3.

I love this technique.

..next time you might try doing the brushed embroidery with royal icing. Either medium is acceptable but the royal icing seems to hold its shape a little better
