I have a question about mixing color. If a color chart says:
Aqua=5 Sky Blue + 1 Leaf Green. What does that mean? 5 parts sky blue to 1 part leaf green or 5 drops/toothpicks of sky blue and 1 of leaf green? And are these formulas in porportion to 1 cup of icing or what?

I think I'm color challenged or it takes a much larger amount of color than I think when mixing with white icing. I start out by dipping my toothpicks in my Wilton pastes and end up using spoonfuls and the colors still don't seem to be as intense as I want, i.e. the WBH colors. Am I just being too cautious or does it really take a half or whole vial of paste to achieve some colors? Help!!!! icon_cry.gif

I agree, MeredithLA, I have the same issues. With the liquid food colors, one part=one drop. But how do you measure one part with a toothpick in the gel colors? And I also cn never get intense colors, or even the proper shade. For instance, bought a maroon Wilton gel, and it was fushia no matter how much color I kept adding.
