I am looking to make Chocolate seashell candies for my daughter's bday cake. I have read some posts on how to make them. However, I was wondering, do you just use the round melts you can find at the bakery supply stores and craft stores? How do they taste? Thanks!

yes thats what you would use. Most supply stores sell Merkens chocolate and it has a really good taste. I melt it in the microwave on small intervals stir inbetween meltings

Seashell molds look really cool if you marble the chocolate too. That's what I did. You just put a blob of the marble color in the bowl of the base color and mix/swirl it a bit. Then spoon it into the molds. Believe it or not, the swirls stay and they look great!

I've used the seashell mold a lot and I agree that the marbled ones are really nice looking on a cake!
I used the Wilton chocolate melts in a plastic re-usable decorating bag, zapped it in the microwave for a few seconds, snipped a tiny bit off the end of the bag, filled the mold and put it in the freezer for about 5-10 mins. Worked really good! When I wanted the marbled look, I just put the 2 different colored chocolates in the same bag.
Have Fun!!!! icon_smile.gif
