Has anyone made buttercream with hibiscus powder? I have been googling for a few days and most of them are made with the tea and they all have cream cheese. I'm wondering if I can just make my ABC like usual and just add a little powder for color and flavoring? Would that work? I want to do a trial run of the abc on some lemon cake. I've read those pair well together.

I think you can but the cream cheese is a nice contrast to the lemon and hibiscus. If you’re trying to avoid the actual cream cheese, @K8Memphis has a white balsamic vinegar ABC on this website that would provide the same flavor profile.
