I’m making some things from MC and am struggling a bit.
For pineapple, I tried lemon yellow with just a dab or two of gold. No dice. Looks like a dull yellow.
Any ideas? I’ll add some piping or deco gel at the end to get a shine.
I’m also making sausage - the terra cotta color was suggested, wondering if I can make something similar. Red or Maroon and brown? Dab of orange?
Thanks for any thoughts!
I've looked at this question half a dozen times and just couldn't decide how to answer. First of all, it seems to me that a medium lemon yellow would be perfect for pineapple, without adding any other color. As for sausage, I would make my modeling chocolate a base medium brown color, then dry brush (or I guess you could mix dusts with cocoa butter) with different colors browns, terra cotta, red, yellow, just to add depth. It is always a bit of trial and error when learning something new.
If you're going to be doing modeling chocolate coloring a lot, invest in a quality oil-based chocolate candy food coloring, or
buy the pre-colored candy melts to make the mc, or
buy Flo-coat a product that will allow you to use your regular food coloring for chocolates.

KatyN, all you have to do to color modeling chocolate is to knead in gel color until you achieve the desired shade.
