Hi all -- I found some old threads on here about star shaped cakes and templates, but I cannot access them.  They are old (2007-2010).  Does anyone have a template or suggestions for a star shaped cake?  I ordered a cake pan...but it seems so small!

draw a star on some paper and use that as your template — fold the tips of the stars in toward the middle — put your folded template into the cake pan to make sure it fits — probably a round pan but square would also work — then you can use the sections you cut out to turn around and re-attach as the points of the star —

just work your template to make sure everything will fit correctly — and you would probably have to straighten the on-site edge of the star tip so it will fit flush against the main cake — and probably have to straighten the edge of the main cake where the star tips join so again that they will fit flush against each other

fill and stack the layers before cutting out the template

Star Shaped Cake Without Star Shaped Pan

BOY does that take me back to the early 80's.  That cake pan was one of the first Wilton shaped pans that I bought in Alaska.  It really did not have that sharp of a shape now that I look at it.  And I still love to pipe icing  ha
