Can I get some opinions on the scraper paddles for kitchen aid. I have one now that scrapes the front of bowl well, but the back of the bowl doesn't get a clean scrape. This one has the rubber scrapers on both sides of paddle. I had one before with the blue silicone knobby things on both sides, I hated that one, you could never get all the batter off. I know they make one that just has the rubber scraper on one side of paddle, don't have that one. Just need feedback on your favorites (or if you use them at all)  my mixer is the classic 4.5 quart size. Thanks

I have the KA paddle with rubber on both sides, and I love it. Scrapes the bottom of the bowl, all around. But of course, it depends on the KA model you have. Mine is the Artisan 4 quart, which is probably over 20 years old. I have heard that the newer KA made after the 1990’s don’t function as well. Nor do the paddles.

Yea, something about the old ones having Hobart motors. They are a gem if you can find them.  The scraper I have did seem to cream the butter and sugar really well. I was able to save a lot of time without having to scrape so much. Thanks

Yes MamaGeese

Like a lot of products, the KA was made in the USA, good quality control, good American parts, as you mentioned, ie: Hobart motor. Then, somewhere along the way, KA was either being made offshore, or I believe KA possibly got bought out. So although put together in USA,  that the actual internal parts came from Indonesia or China?? Either way, the original KA is no more...

my daughter gave me a scraper one and I like it fine -- but I have always used the paddle on whatever mixer to scrape down my bowl -- it's already gooey, it fits perfect and I scrape the bowl with that -- I mean I do have to wash my hands a million times though hahahaha

I remember reading somewhere that Kitchenaid doesn't recommend the double sided scrappers because they can damage the mixer. That could just be because they don't want you buying 3rd party accessories, but it may be a legitimate concern considering they only make them with a scraper on one side.

I have the KA Pro 5 Plus with 5qt & 6qt metal bowls that use the same accessories and a 6qt glass bowl that has its own accessories. The KA branded edge beater for the metal bowls works really well. The KA branded edge beater for the glass bowl doesn't work quite as well, I believe that may be because it is a much heavier bowl and the lift stand may sag a little.

Both edge beaters push whatever I'm mixing up, leaving a line around the top of the bowl. I don't really mind, though, I just push it back down while the mixer is running.

My two sided rubber paddle  is definitely a KA official product. Especially for my Artisan mixer. Purchased at Sears (Canada). Probably had 15 years or more.

Your right, I’ll hang on to it. And yes, appliances definitely aren’t made like they use to.
