Hey guys! So I’m wanting to offer DIY cookie decorating kits.  For this sort of thing, would you guys package royal icing or buttercream, since it’s a little easier to use?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I'd probably do buttercream, just because royal can be tricky with consistency. With buttercream, I can eat my cookie right away and not need to let it dry lol

That’s along the lines of what I was thinking! Maybe a slightly thinner out buttercream, too, so that it comes out a little smoother.

That would be a good idea. I would just hate for people to not like their box because they don't know how to work with it. Sounds like a really cute idea!

I use royal icing, medium consistency. I just tell them to trim a little tip off the bottom, and they can always trim more depending on the flow. I always get good feedback. I have seen people use buttercream for the preschooler crowd. They just use little containers and spoons or whatever for them to spread it.
