I was wanting to limit the amount of fondant used to save time and so it’s not so thick in fondant. Will the fondant rosettes be too heavy or not stick to fondant very well? Has anyone tried it without using fondant as your base?

This is the kind of fondant rosettes I’m referring to, wouldn’t let me add the image to the original post.

I honestly do not know.  I've added a lot of fondant pieces to buttercream cakes, some of the large and heavy, without problems, but the rosettes are lots and lots of pieces stuck very close together, so I just don't know.  Sorry.  Maybe you should try a small sample cake and see if it hold up.
