I use Wilton gel colours diluted with vodka. Sometimes I don’t use anything to dilute and just straight out paint using the gel colours.

But still the colours absorbs into the fondant and makes the whole painting blurry

wgat do you think is the issue?Painting On Fondant Absorbs The Paint And Makes The It Blurry

I've never had any bleeding like this when I painted on fondant, but I do not generally use gel colors, especially straight from the jar, because they do not dry very well.  I use powdered colors thinned with vodka or cocoa butter, depending upon what I am painting.  This painting is done completely with petal dust mixed with vodka.  I just thought of something....I always let me fondant dry for at least a day before painting on it.  Perhaps your fresh fondant has something to do with it.Painting On Fondant Absorbs The Paint And Makes The It Blurry

That was my first thought too...  how long are you letting your fondant pieces dry for before painting?

The fondant should be dry, and for what you did there, I would just use an edible marker or a size 1 tip with royal icing.

Thank you, dear Kate!  I love painting big cat and I love painting on fondant, it is so responsive!

I let my fondant dry for about a week before I paint on it, but the pieces are pretty large, around 8" x 10" to 10" x 12" and about 3/16" thick.  Smaller pieces, like to ones on the cupcakes, should only need to dry for a few hours.

SandraSmiley that is the most spectacular painting on fondant !!!!!!  You are a wonderful sugar artist.

I've only painted my cake boards before I put the cakes on.  I let them dry a day or two & had a fan on them for hours.  They painted easily with no runs or bleeding.

Thank you,  MBalaska!  I struggle to finish a nice cake and am hopeless at piping, but painting is as natural as breathing.  I've been drawing since I was big enough to hold a pencil.  I am still in awe of how well fondant takes to being painted.
