Hi :)

First time posting on here but I really need some advice.

Making a cake for a friend and she wants a model spitfire on the top. Never done anything like this before but I want to make sure it's quite detailed. Not sure whether to make it from rkt and cover it in fondant or make it entirely from fondant with some sugarpaste mixed in to harden it. And then i have  a second dilemma... I had intended to make camouflage fondant BUT because I want to add details like the lettering and panels etc, should I just cover it with plain white fondant and then paint it? I just don't know what would look better! Any insight would be really appreciated!

Here is a thought that might solve all of your questions, make the whole cake the car.  It is easy to carve cake and there are lots of tutorials on how it's done, and it would be really impressive.

As to whether to make a model from RKT's or fondant, I think it would depend upon how big it will be and the weight.  If you need for it to be lighter, use RKT's or styrofoam.
