I am making a golf scene cake and i have cut the cake into two pieces.  I want to put a water effect between and around  the two pieces of cake by using blue coloured sugar glass.  Should i cover the cake board completely first with sugar glass and then when dry place the cakes on top of it or should i put cakes on the board first and then pour sugar glass round them on the board and let the sugar glass set?  I thought this might cause a problem with the fondant round the sides of the cake, what do you think?

I would set the poured sugar on foil -- put a hole in the cake to accommodate it

you can peel off the foil or leave it on there -- if you use isomalt it causes gastrointestinal distress -- aka bad bad bad tummy/cramps/diarrhea  if too much is eaten and it doesn't take too much to get super sick -- just saying
