Does anyone have a recommendation for a good royal icing recipe? I need icing that will hold heavier fondant decorations to a fondant covered cake.

Why not use melted chocolate or candy melts?

You are very welcome.  I use melted chocolate all the time because I always have candy melts on hand and rarely have royal icing.  I believe it is even stronger than RI.

egg white royal is stronger than meringue powder royal -- you can also add gum arabic and/or cream of tartar to royal to make it stronger but you could also use white choco -- but gravity is gravity too -- you could apply your piece then push toothpicks into the cake just underneath the piece right close though -- to help hold it up -- and push them almost all the way in so they are flush and barely show and dust them with powder or a tid tad of royal to hide them -- could also be removed after delivery

Yes, as Kate said, toothpick supports work a charm.

I don't know if this is what happened to you, but I have had posts to display multiple times if I get impatient and hit the Submit bar more than once.  It takes several seconds for the message to post.
