Hi Everyone,

Now that FDA's trans fat ban deadline has passed (June 18, 2018), what is everyone using instead of Hi Ratio Shortening?  I knew nothing about the deadline and ordered a huge tub in mid June.  What I got was NOT Hi Ratio Shortening and didn't work at all on the graduation cake I made.  My icing turned out extremely soft :( .  Thankfully, I was able to talk the graduate's mom into keeping the cake inside until they were ready to cut it.  Has anyone found a replacement yet that works just as good?

TIA!

I have not tried CK brand "Cake & Icing" shortening.  But that will be my next go-to since my beloved HR is now pulled off the market.  And bless those decorators who stockpiled in their freezer lol

I still have a small amount of the old style Sweetex in the freezer, but once it is gone, I plan to go back to Crisco.

I'll keep looking :( I used Crisco before switching over to HR, and now icing made with Crisco tastes gritty and oily to me...as opposed to light, fluffy, and soooo smooth. Didn't know what I was missing until I used HR, now it's had to go back. Hopefully, someone has found a replacement.
