Hi,

I would like to know if anyone has a buttercream recipe that is not too sweet and doesn't taste too buttery.I have tried whipped cream stabilized with pudding mix and I love the taste of it but it doesn't hold up well. So I want something that works like buttercream but tastes good like whipped cream.

Thankss

I make cooked flour icing. Tastes lovely and not sweet at all. Similar to smbc, but without all the work. Posted the recipe. I personally add a couple of cups of icing sugar and meringue powder to the icing after it comes together. I find it pipes better and crusts faster with the addition.

jchuck I thought the same thing when I saw the post title and I agree...it tastes great, but on it's own, not too good for piping

Well whatthedogate cooked flour icing will pipe on it’s own without the addition. Have piped just as made on cupcakes. But if using to ice a cake, I like the icing to crust.
