I generally use Challenge brand butter. I like the flavor and it always works well in my recipes

I love Land o Lakes, too! I am lucky to live near a Restaurant Depot so I can get it much less expensively than in the grocery store. But also, depending on what you are making (if the butter flavor doesn't have to shine) you could get by with a grocery store brand and save some money.

how much do you get it for ? it is so expensive. and i have used Kroger butter but i find that it is more buttery tasting than Land of lakes and over powers certain recipes.

At Restaurant Depot (in my area-- Kansas City) Land o Lakes is 3.19/4 sticks.  At our local grocery story, Land o Lakes is normally 5.79/4 sticks. CostCo also carries great butter-- I don't know off hand how much it is, but its sometimes less than the RD.

I use an Amish butter that i get from the local groceries store, absolutely amazing stuff. The great part about it is that it only costs 3.15/lb! Living in Wisconsin has its perks :-)

sweetdreamzz -- I do prefer LOL but CostCo's is really good and I'm sure most clients wouldn't even know the difference. It's quite possible I've been lured by the cute packaging :)

thecanadian160-- Wow--what a deal on good local butter! Bet it would be amazing on caramel corn!

Whatever grade AA butter is on sale closest to $2.50/lb.  I've never found a significant difference between brands as long as it's AA.

I use LOL mostly and have tried the Plugra which is a European butter, but I really couldn't taste enough difference in it to use it over LOL.  And sometimes I use the store brand, depending on what I'm baking.
