Hi, I need your help please!!!!! I need to make an Egg Salad Sandwich cake. I now how to make the cake look like a bread (I saw a tutorial on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich cake). But I have no idea on how to make the egg salad. I checked in the internet for food imposters and found many things except egg salad sandwich. I was thinking in cutting white rectangles of fondant...and that's about it, my brain stopped right there!!! what other things can I add, or what are your ideas. I will appreciate any help I can get. Thank you so much!!!

What about simply making the egg looking decorative part on the very edge of the cake between the two slices of 'bread'. You could roll small pieces of yellow and white fondant and kind of 'mash' the balls together then apply those to the edges in the middle of the 'bread' part of the cake perhaps?

I would cover a cake in thick yellow buttercream and then squash small cubes of white fondant into it so they are covered in the buttercream but still sticking out a bit. Hope that makes sense.

Or mix mini white marshmallows with yellow buttercream and cover a cake with it.

I think I would use some kind of white fudge or marzipan in with some yellowish buttercream -- it would look dryer than the fondant -- easier to work with I think -- unless you have some really bone dry fondant -- some of the marzipan could be colored yellow too to imitate the yolks -- the buttercream would be a mustard colored yellow -- and I use relish in my egg salad so I would have some green bits and onions too -- paprika can be used in it as well --

I shred my eggs for egg salad so I would shred the fudge or marzipan -- but if that wasn't authentic enough I would make some eggs out of the marzipan and cut them into the larger sized pieces that would easily be recognized as eggs --

this was a toughie but that's where I would start --

if you overcook boiled eggs they get a greenish halo around the yolks so there's that too -- ha!

Oh yummy - the buttercream with fudge pushed in to it sounds good.

I think you can scrap my idea in place of either of the above lol.

How about using instant vanilla pudding colored a deeper yellow mixed with mini marshmallows?   I like the fondant idea but that's eating a lot of fondant (even though as others pointed out you don't fill it with fondant!)
