Pricing is always an issue for us Entrepreneurs! I know its not just me who's scared to charge what Im really worth. Maybe its because we think people will not want to pay, or we feel were begging, or maybe we dont see the value in our own product. Why do we feel so bad to put a price on our product that we deserve and would be happy to collect? Thats why many of us go out of business because we never see a profit worth having.
It is the same with any art form. For the uninitiated, it just looks like cake, not hours and hours of labor, years of practice, considerable expense and a bit of heart and soul in each confection. We feel guilty because we've seen that shocked, sometimes indignant expressions on faces when we quote a fair price. Goodness knows, (bless their hearts) they are entitled to our time, money and expertise! Don't even get me started!
I spent many years painting portraits. When a potential customer didn't like my price quote, I eventually got to the point where I just told them to do it themselves, and left it at that. It was fun giving them something to be indignant about, lol.
