Trying to get our name out there more and signed up for a craft show. I will be the only one there with professional baked goods. However I need some tips first show ever and want to make sure to plan right. Should I plan on selling alot that day or more order taking? I left my full time job to make my dreams come true so I don' want to lose money starting out. Any advice and tips would be great.
Also do you charge more at shows to get money back for gas and everything?
I don't know what type craft show to which you are referring, but what comes to mind is lots of people walking around from booth to booth, examining a variety of handmade items and enjoying their day. Seems to me, a cupcake, brownie or cookie in hand would just make it a better experience. I think this will be a good opportuity for you to sell lots of portable treats, but reserve the cakes for orders only. If you have left overs, these small items freeze very well and could be used at a later date.
It is probably a bad idea to raise your prices, just because you are at a show. Your pricing structure will be one of the things you are representing and charging more for goods sold at the show would give the impression that this was your permanent cost.
