Hi
My granddaughter is dairy and soy allergic which can be difficult when it comes to finding different recipes for cake decorating other than buttercream which I make with vegan butter
Does anyone have any other dairy free frosting recipes I could try please ?
If you are in Aus you can get a product called Solite, there is a vegan version.
You can use this in place of butter in just about any icing recipe.
So far I have used it in both SMBC & ABC and it honestly is almost the same as butter except for the flavour but once you add any flavouring you wish to use the flavour will still be good.
You will have to check if it has any soy origins though as I am not sure on that, by the time I found it my bub was able to tolerate soy in my diet so I never checked sorry.
If you want to make Ganache that will be a bit tricky as trying to find a chocolate that is worth eating that is both dairy and soy free is from what I have tasted, not possible haha.
Cooked flour frosting you would be able to make with coconut cream and solite in place of butter and cream/milk but you would obviously have to pair it with a cake that wasn't overpowered by the coconut, maybe a lime or raspberry cake?
What other kids of icings were you wanting to make?
Also have you tried using coconut milk/cream (from a tin, not a carton) in your cakes to replace the milk? Gives the cakes such a fantastic texture, much better than almond milk/coconut milk from a carton that can leave your cake dry.
