Wrap the box in a couple of thicknesses of cling wrap, then a layer of aluminum foil to freeze. To thaw, simply remove from the freezer and let set on the counter for a few hours, still in the wrapping. Any condensate should have evaporated and the cupcakes be ready to serve.
