When I decorate my cookies, I have been using a Royal icing, but I really don't like the way they dry. I am packaging them up for cookie bouquets, but the royal icing is just way too hard for me to enjoy eating the next day. And, this makes me sad! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Anyone know if there is a recipe out there for a cookie icing that dries hard enough to package up, but not so hard that it breaks my teeth when it dries? Please Help!!!

Try antonia74 recipe inher cookie tutorial in the articles section-It is fantastic. You can also add flavorings to it but you need to subtract the amount of water equal to the amount of flavoring from the recipe. I include this tip because I forgot to do this and ruined a batch! icon_rolleyes.gif

I add a couple of tablespoons of corn syrup to my royal icing. It dries hard, but doesn't shatter when you bite into it.

Ditto to Diane's post. The corn syrup really seems to make a difference.

I also use corn syrup in my royal for cookies. But I have a question. Can you freeze the cookies after they have been decorated with this icing?

I have a question about the corn syrup in royal icing but not for cookies....
can you add it to your royal icing for cake decorating? Would it make it too soft? (for flowers for example)
