So today a lady is picking up a cake from me, it is a 3 tier mermaid theme baby shower cake. Here is the back story. She called and wanted to get on the books for a party in November, then she called and said the party has been changed to the first week of December I said ok I am almost booked so please let me know all the specifics. She then calls me 2 weeks prior to today says I want to move forward with the cake, can you order that cake topper I want off of Etsy. I told her I think it would be best if you ordered the cake topper, she said can't you just add it to my bill. I went back and forth and I ended up ordering the cake topper off Etsy. I talked to the lady I was ordering from and she said it will be there Dec 1st, so I went and ordered it sense it was going to be here in time. Well guess what folks, USPS sucks and didn't deliver the package yesterday. I texted the customer and made her aware of the package not showing up, she said oh that sucks well could you write on top of the cake, I said sure.

I have been tracking the package and it said that it was out for delivery to my address yesterday and I was suppose to receive the package before 8pm yesterday. No package  confused

So here is where I need your advice..... when she picks up the cake in 3 hours do I make her pay for the topper sense the price I gave her included the topper? Then when I do receive the topper I give it to her? Or do I ask the Easy lady if I can return the topper and get my money back? Or do I get paid for the cake and try to sell the topper or use it for another cake later on down the road?

Just to clarify, my gut told me not to pay for the topper out of my pocket, and I had asked the lady to pay pal me the money for the topper after purchase but she didn't. I won't make that mistake again!

What do I do?

give her the topper if she paid for it -- why aren't you putting it on the cake?

The topper was marked due to arrive but didn't show up - she doesn't have it in her possession yet.

Personally I would charge her for the topper then let her know when it arrives so that she can pick it up herself, unless she was only a few minutes away, then I would drop it off to her house so it was all over and done with.

Cake topper still did not come today with my mail :( Not happy about that at all.

When she came and got the cake she loved the cake and I asked about the topper she said she would pay for it, but ask the etsy listing if you can return it.

So I asked the etsy listing if it can be returned and she said no... offered me a discount for next purchase. The seller did tell me that on her side when shipping the package USPS told her it would be there 11/30! So this frustrates me even more.

I am going to ask the lady to pay me for it, I just feel strange.
