Hi everyone.

I am making a cake for my daughter's 6th birthday in a few weeks. I usually make fondant covered cakes however this year she has chosen a drip cake so was hoping to avoid fondant for a change .

My plan was a white chocolate mud cake, pink icing and a chocolate ganache drip.

First question was I was going to use buttercream for the icing as it's easy to colour but I'm not sure if this will go well with a white choc mud cake?

Alternatively I could do a white chocolate ganache but I've never coloured ganache before. Also most drip cake tutorials I've watched are always done on-top of buttercream or fondant so not sure if ganahce drip is ok on-top of a ganached cake?

Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I do ganache drips on buttercream (SMBC) with no problems at all.

I try to avoid colouring the white choc ganache as the colour never seems to come out just right for me.

Hope that helps a bit!
